Melding form with functionality, French-door refrigerators have stylish double doors that open to an expansive fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features like through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We asked Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and the founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. We looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency, among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is aimed at those who wish to integrate cutting-edge features in their kitchens. This fridge has them all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive and I was expecting better.

Other than that the fridge is a great choice. It features a large freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth french door fridge reviews-door refrigerators. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is typical for a fridge with a French door at this price. It also has a decent sized ice maker that is tucked away in the left door, though it's not the largest I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a customized storage arrangement for whatever you have to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is stylish, too. The LED lighting is a nice touch. The bins for storage inside have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls, so you can set them for Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and offers numerous options for customization. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill which is an option that is available in a handful of other GE fridges that allow you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. The fridge shows a countdown to display how much water is left, but it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Designed to look as a seamless element of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer and two compressors for preserving food. The Ice maker is among the Best French fridge freezer we've ever tested and produces a pyramid-shaped ice with a low water usage. This fridge is the perfect choice for single household or kitchenettes that want a built-in look and top of the line food preservation.

This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for various reasons. Its freezer temperatures held firm at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving by more than a fraction a degree--this is key to preventing freezing burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour and remained at that temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is known for its top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, however it has great features and capabilities for the price.

While the fridge is a fantastic appliance, it's important to know the limitations. It has a small shelf space, which means you'll have to think creatively when storing tall items. Also the shelves aren't sprillproof and can be easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the fridge. However, they must be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great option for those who require lots of space within a small french door bottom freezer refrigerator frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has a standard french door retro fridge door design, with two rows of spill-capture shelving and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded down to make space for tall items. There's also a full-width drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, making it easy to move frozen ice to the fridge for use when needed. The freezer also has innovative design features such as sliding drawers that help you organize your items. It also has a huge bin that can hold plenty of frozen food items as well as an container for storing ice.

Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It allows you to manage the refrigerator's temperature and lighting using your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. The fridge took a bit longer to defrost food and chill it than other models we tested. This could be due to the bigger capacity.

The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the advantages of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a bit cheaper than the most expensive counter depth refrigerator with an icemaker, which makes it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an french door fridge freezers uk door refrigerator that won't break the bank and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a simple fridge which may not be as appealing like some of its competitors however it has enough features to make a good choice. Its most notable feature is the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is situated over the two crisper bins, is another excellent feature. The drawer lets you use some of the refrigerator's cooling power to this area so that you can store foods that require extra attention. You can adjust this feature by using an adjustable slider that is located just outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings work better than the specific ones.

During my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the refrigerator. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance but isn't quite at the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat in order to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It does a great job of repelling fingerprints and streaks, even compared to shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
